Honestly though like if you're following Philza you should get used to the fact that since the dawn of him streaming RP people have violently disliked his reaction to any angst beats because like, the cc finds angst rp funny and is also a very giggly guy. And if you're here for drama and tragedy it looks like he's not taking the pain seriously, which is obviously going to be something you don't like seeing. Trust me. We have been here before. I have watched DSMP. There were people saying he didn't take Techno's IRL death seriously enough because he was positive on stream. Like, this is top five things people get mad at cc!phil and his characters for, after "breaks the fourth wall" and "is an imperfect person/parent" and "idk his vibes just grate and I read them as Bad y'know".

I personally think that like the fact that he was repeatedly saying to the eggs that they were gonna get Tubbo back, they'll bring him back with the create wrench cause he cares about create, don't worry it'll all be okay; that was all evidence that the character does care about Tubbo and for heaven's sake, if you want angst, read that as denial and you're fully comfortably in one of the recognized stages of grieving. I was making jokes the day people in my life died, this is also one of the ways people deal with loss. But I also see why that's a POV clash if you wanted a more straightforward depiction of grief and angst? Phil was pretty far from being in tears, which is what some people think was warranted. So like, sure, if you've been watching a specific perspective, Phil's reaction was trivializing. I can see that perspective as well.

It is not fun to see someone calling your POV "vile" and "heartless" and "too selfish to consider other people" and the other delightful stuff that I just saw on a scroll through the tag, but like, that's just POV clash, you gotta let people have their own opinions and block the neg tags and maybe block people who are being really loud. Sincerely, it does nobody any good to go beefing about people being mean about your favourite cubito. Post careful lore exploration on your own blog if you want but doing replies, sending anons, all of that is the way down which A Bad Time lies. Sincerely like, this has happened before, this will happen again, just go listen to good music or something and ignore it.

Some additional thoughts:

Anisa: I love her smm but after learning about her original route pre-rewrite, I feel as though there was def some missed potential with her route, besides being half finished. So I would take her out of the source material only bc I want more of her :''

Sage: what it says on the box 🤧 no extra comments but I kinda miss him </3

Felix and Rime: I don't have a good recollection of Felix's route + he's not my favourite LI, but idk he's still a compelling character that I think had some missed potential, same with Rime.

Doremi: She's so darling, best magical girl protagonist ever <33 I would say she was treated fairly for the most part but near the end of the series, Sara and I did notice a growing number of instances where the other girls weren't as supportive of doremi as we might've hoped, or teased her when it wasn't exactly appropriate, so I think the writers could've laid off on some of that. It wasn't as bad as the way the inner sailors bullied Usagi, but it had a similar feeling, hence why I thought her character could've been treated better/gotta get her out of the source material/other ppl do not understand them (besides sara @evanox of course). I also get annoyed when reading about ship discourse re: her and Kotake because he's such a godawful kid and I just want doremi to live her best life eating steak 😭 10000/10 Doremi best girl

The Queen of the Witch World: Sadly only a few of these bingo options applied to the queen,, I almost didn't want to choose the *biting them* option because I thought it'd be impolite for such an elegant lady,,so yeah, not a lot to say about her in relation to these bingo spots, but I do enjoy thinking abt her story pre- and post- canon :3c

Majo Ran: OUGH my girl,, there's a reason why Ran is my discord pfp, she's so dang cool and handsome,, I don't have any issues with her character, I just have beef with the writers who decided Ran would be a one-off character, they only mentioned her ONCE after her appearance in Sharp, and that was a throwaway line at the very end of Dokkan 😭 Regardless, I loved that one ep we had of her and would've loved to hear more abt Ran's adventures on earth, both as a child and after she was banished from the witch world.

You know I’ve tried so hard to stay neutral on the whole Lou/Tommy of it all. But he did another cameo, which he apparently upped the prices the 145 a video?? But he did another one and he dismissed all of Tommy’s past behavior as being corny and teasing which…does not sit right with me. Like racism, misogyny, toxicity, silent compliance of it all….is not just being corny and teasing. And then he ends the video by talking about Tommy came in at the last minute to save the day and save Bobby and Athena so everyone should be good with him now….. like now we’re taking credit for Hens stuff too?

Idk none of that sat well with me at all and if he is sticking around for any of season 8 I think I need the show to just be like no more cameos from you or something.

Now on to your ask:

I haven’t seen the cameo you are talking about. I have no desire to see that cameo either. I’ve watched one of Lou’s cameos, way back in the beginning when he started doing them. I found it funny, if a little weird that someone would pay for that, but to each their own.

I’ve been hearing about these cameos more and more lately. And yes, they have started to bother me. Mostly because it seems that Lou is charging these people up to 125 dollar (I’ve even read 145 dollars) to talk about the things ‘he’ thinks or believes to be true about Tommy or Buck/Tommy. Basically he’s talking about his own headcanons as an actor. Which again, is fine, because if it helps him to act better, why not?

The problem lies in the fact that some people have started taking Lou’s headcanons for reality. They hear what he says and see it as ‘canon’ because (right now) Buck/Tommy is a canon couple. While it is true that Buck/Tommy is canon, Lou’s headcanons are just that, little fanfictions he made up in his head. It’s a dangerous road to go down, because where does it end? When Buck/Tommy eventually break up, a lot of people will feel misled by him. It won’t be pretty.

So therefore, I’ve decided to never watch any of his cameos. I’m not really interested in his fantasies for the guest character he plays on my favourite show. I’d much rather be focusing on what 911 is actually showing us on our screens. I focus on the nuances and little details that they want us to pick up on.

Sometimes there are small things that seem inconsequential, but turn out to be very important episodes later. Everything matters on television. There are no coincidences. The writers craft the story, every single thing is planned out for the scene, the actors act it out and we watch on in complete fascination. There is no room for a guest actor’s headcanons or fantasies in a prime time show like this.

That being said though, if he truly dismissed Chimney and Hen’s plight under Captain Gerrard as mere ‘teasing’, that is factually wrong. If you go back to watch the scenes in question, there is bigotry, blatant racism and sexism. It makes me wonder if he even remembers the scenes in question. Did he rewatch them before he came back for season 7? We’ll never know.

But it does highlight, once again, that it isn’t smart to give this guy a platform to talk about his personal headcanons. He was always bound to say something dumb that would piss people off at some point. And here we are today, pissed off and annoyed.

I also want to remind everyone that it wasn’t Tommy who is the real ‘hero’ in the story of saving Bathena on the cruise ship. It was Hen Wilson, who had a bad feeling in her gut and decided to follow that feeling. She got the ball rolling, then Chimney jumped to her aide, because he always will. Buck and Eddie decided to join in, without hesitation, because again—they always will. Tommy was merely the helicopter pilot who flew them all in.

By that definition they are all the heroes in this narrative, which is why they all get medals next episode. But it is only Hen who was smart enough to follow her gut. If all the others are ‘heroes’? Hen Wilson is the only ‘big damn hero’.

I do believe Tommy might be sticking around for the beginning of season 8, because I’m not sure there will be enough time to deal with a proper break up in two episodes. Unless Tim surprises me and actually does manage to pull it off.

But yes, someone should just tell him to stop doing those cameos if his character is to carry over to season 8. It’s starting to get a little worrisome at this point. Charging people to talk about your own fantasies for your character, feels a little exploitative.

Whatever happens with him in season 8, ultimately I’m not really worried about Tommy to be honest. Lou’s stint on 911 is coming to an end pretty soon, one way or the other.

Consider this topic closed for me now. I’ve said all I wanted and needed to say. I don’t feel like wasting any more of my time thinking about or writing about this man and his cameos. I’d rather spend my precious fandom time on the things that matter: the amazing people I’ve met, watching the show and crying copious amounts of tears over these characters I’ve come to love so much, theorising and speculating about what might happen in the next episodes and next season, and above all talking about Buddie—my favourite pastime. 😊

Hello and happy saturday!! was wondering if there are any authors or particular books that have particularly influenced your writing??

What a lovely question! Hi! So there's this book called Voices, by Ursula Le Guin who is usually my favourite author, one of her later works and nominally YA. It's fantasy about a formerly thriving little nation state that's been invaded and systematically oppressed, and the main characters belong to the household of the man who was the elected leader of the nation in the old days. He was tortured; the family live hand to mouth. And then comes a time where, for the first time since the old days, they have real guests. And they don't have much to feed them, and their hospitality is so far from what it used to be, but everyone turns out and they clean the house from top to bottom. One of the kids asks why it matters, and gets schooled in short order about where their remaining dignity lies.

And, well, I can't see the book from where I'm sitting and I forget the line, but it's something like: this is what we mean about housework. If it isn't done honourably, then where is honour?

And I don't know if that book itself influenced me or Le Guin just codifies what I like to write about anyway, but that's my main theme and she's the author who gives it the most shape that I can think of. This idea that you really can peel potatoes to the glory of God, as the Jesuits say; that such work in the service of dignity and honour is as worthy as any great thing; and, in a way, that there are no great things, and that institutions, states, the non-corporeal structure of the world, is all cleaning the house before company comes. And I shouldn't think that, not really; I'm a constitutional lawyer and small strokes of the pen do influence seventy million people all at once if you do them right. But Le Guin, again, rebuts that by telling you that individuals matter ("The Ones Who Walk From Omelas" is the short story about that) regardless, because where else is the polity except in who and what it serves? I go back to Le Guin a lot on this; I'm trying to write something at the moment that is supposed to be a war story set in space, but turns out to be, as usual, some small things in a few people's lives that happen as a war rages around them, and why they keep on mattering as everything falls apart.

One of my other favourite authors is Natasha Pulley, and my favourite of her books (I love them all) is The Lost Future of Pepperharrow, which is a gaslamp fantasy set mostly in Japan, and it has lots of adventures and beautiful scenery and other fun stuff. But it's written in this devastatingly restrained style, which continuously reassures me that it's ok to write that way though obviously I don't do it as well as she does, and also, it comforts me that it's ok to write about grief. That melancholy and grief can basically be what you write about (if small things matter, small things destroy) even if a lot of people prefer romance and why shouldn't they in these terrible times. Thaniel, the main character, is a young gay civil servant, who knows in his heart if not his head that he's dying of tuberculosis. It's a queering of the consumptive Victorian girl trope, except Thaniel and Mori, his partner, are more immediately concerned about the imminent Offences Against the People Act that will criminalise male homosexuality. Exactly a hundred years later young gay men will die of AIDS-linked TB. It's a stunning book, never as popular as I think it should be, and I really aspire to writing one like it.

DFF Characters That Compel Me

Hard for me to say I like these characters but there are a few who I'm fascinated by and think about them often and apparently wanted to write a long post about it.

I'd love to hear if you have any characters that gave you brain rot and want to write about, especially because idk if most people have a favourite character in here? Or if they love the character? I'm curious to know how people interact with the characters in this show.

I'll talk about 3: New-Tan, Tee, and Fluke.

New-Tan

Of my top 3, the most obvious and popular one is New-Tan. I will always love a sibling bond in stories and what's better than sibling revenge? Especially delicious because New was a shit Phi to Non while they were living in the same house, didn't care about anything Non said or showed him, and probably did nothing to comfort Non when their parents looked at New more favourably. And yet, he gives up his entire self for Non: He gives up his scholarship and his education, he lies to his parents, and he constantly smokes drugs to get to see Non. He gives up his entire identity when he assumes the new role of Tan and becomes someone whose existence and purpose is to avenge Non. I liked the twist that it was actually New who was the driver behind the revenge, it felt so much more desperate. The revenge and killing also take so much patience and intelligence, whether it be the drugs or the traps or making Top the faux killer for a bit. In the end, he follows his brother's script and makes sure that they all die and nobody leaves that house.

I think a lot of love and support for New came from people's love and pity for Non because they wanted New to avenge Non. Non wasn't really a character that I felt much for, to be honest; like obviously his situation was sad but I never really thought about him when he wasn't on-screen, so I think my view of New is more about what doing all this means to New himself rather than what it means for Non.

I loved the ending for him too. As I said, he gave everything up and had nothing waiting for him out there, so it feels narratively fitting that he dies in that house with them. Before, New used to see Non tell him to take revenge and accuse him of abondoning him but here, he sees Non thank him for avenging him in his hallucinations. Then, he immediately thinks about using Uncle Dang and White as collateral, the innocents that he had to use and discard (the same way Non was), to gain that gratitude. Doesn't have much time to duel on it though because he's helpless again when he sees Non hang himself. I'm glad that the last thing New sees is Non emerging from the light to thank him before returning to the light.

Seems like I have a lot to say, so I'll put Tee and Fluke under Read More.

Tee

In the earlier episodes, Tee was irritating as he and Top kept trying to destroy the footage, fucking ran off with the motorcycle, and were just being overall selfish and hiding things. In the past, I was softening up to Tee when we discovered that he, as a teenager, works doing shady shit for his uncle to buy meds for his father but he was still a POS.

I can't believe he covered for Top and made Non not only take the blame for it but also dragged him into the stupid gang mafia horse account shit with him. He brought Non into this world that had no way of escape, like if Non couldn't get the money, interest would continue accruing and he'd be trapped in the cycle while after he did get the money, Non was beaten and kidnapped. Non literally died in the stupid room.

Yet Tee claimed he didn't think that his uncle would truly kill Non or whatever, how stupid, how can you think that after you've worked under him? His naiveté confused me and I still wonder if it wasn't purposeful ignorance. If Tee convinces himself that he truly never guessed what could happen to Non, maybe he'll feel less guilt about what ended up happening. Selfish, selfish.

Tee felt so alone, even if he was in the group it's not like he could tell them about his side hustle (except fuckass Top). When he was consumed by guilt after Non's death, he still couldn't tell anybody what truly happened. He didn't have family to rely on, either. His scene with his father was so sad as he cried that his father was supposed to be the one taking care of him but his dad was laughing about how Tee has gray hairs now. Ah, sad.

Then, of course, he meets the only good thing in his life, White. He's such a bastard to White too, like getting his high school bf who is 2-years younger into pot lol (White was probably 15 there?), fucking leaving White to get on that bike with Top, and also his apparently uncontrollable jealousy. It seemed like such an over-the-top reaction when he reacts badly to White and Jin's acting scene in ep 1 and the fact that White's hallucination fear at the end involved Tee breaking up with him with accusations of being unfaithful? Bro, Tee, while White was brining light into your life, what the hell were you doing for White? And then of course the end, where he stabbed White... I don't even have words.

I like Tee but I'm influenced by Tee/White, sue me. I've been watching edits and been in a state of disarray because I'm so sad about this. Fucking fuck fuck. I watch series and sometimes I love a pairing and that manifests into me thinking up scenarios of them post-canon or in a missing scene in the show. Can't do that here, can I? Fuck, I was prepared for Tee to die. I needed Tee to die, I wanted him dead dead dead. I was not prepared for what the fuck they gave me, I can't believe Tee stabbed White.

Love him <3 selfish, lonely fucker who was trapped but dragged Non and White into his hell with him.

Fluke

Personally, I haven't heard much discussion about Fluke but he was the first character who I got really into because we started to get to know his personality in the earlier eps while he was alone in the house with White and taking care of Por.

I got into watching shows/series through Squid Game lol and the character that most compelled me there was Sangwoo, truly another dickhead and although they're not the same at all, I still found some similarities, such as their career-related status (Sangwoo being an SNU-graduate with a great job unlike most others there and Fluke's obsession with having a clean record to become a doctor), throwing their weight around (tricking Ali and being mean/scary to White), and just their selfish tendencies in general.

Fluke was overly concerned with his reputation and didn't want the new kids to know what happened 3 years ago with Non, which is what I first picked up on about his character before we got to the flashbacks. It was so selfish; people were worried about a life-and-death situation, but Fluke could only think about his future ambitions. I remember being extremely baffled at the end of episode 4 (I believe) when he points the gun at Tee, tells the walkie-talkie to not come, and then DESTROYS it, severing their connection to the outside world and leaving them trapped with a murderer/ghost/whatever. Just so that they don't become murder suspects for Por's death? girl, I don't understand your plan but you were clearly blinded by your greed for the future.

I love seeing selfish, cowardly characters, and Fluke certainly is one. He witnessed such crucial wrongs and misdoings against Non (Top breaking the camera which started the whole damn thing and Non recording the video which broke the camel's back) but never once spoke up. He said he didn't want to become "like [Non]" meaning he was protecting his own hide by making sure there was someone more bullyable present so that they didn't turn on him. A coward and a dick. In the end, I found it fitting that he had to gouge his eyes out.

Fluke didn't ever stand up to his friends or oppose them, but his cowardly ass was ordering White around while they were alone. Also, the bravado with which he wielded the gun in the later episodes, even taking White hostage and shooting Top, but once somebody else like Tee or Phee had the gun, he was cowering, rolled into a ball with his knees to his chest. Ah, the different ways he behaves when he thinks he has the upper hand vs when he's at somebody else's mercy!

Love him, what a useless character <3 Also, if you ever need to tell your secret but don't want it to get out, just tell Fluke to get it off your chest, that man is never saying a damn thing (even if it would save someone's life).

Anyway, that's that I guess. So many words here and none of it new but I needed to write all these words out, they were haunting me.

1, 9, & 13 for the historical ask game!

1: Favourite historical person

I'll probably have to go with Magnus Hirschfeld. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work he did, both his advocacy for gay and trans rights and the pioneering of trans surgeries. I have yet to read a biography of him or anything like that, but the things I do know about his personal life are rather endearing (and amusing) too.

A lot of people around him seem to have described him as the "dad" of the found family around the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft. He was enough a part of the gay scene in Berlin to have had a nickname within it -- Tante Magnesia (Aunt Magnesia). He was in a long term relation with a man called Karl Giese who also worked with him at the institute and iirc whose mother was present at a drag party they hosted (see image below, the elderly lady to the far left).

While on his world tour, though, he began a relationship with his Chinese translator, medical student Li Shiu Tong (nicknamed Tao Li by Hirschfeld and known by that name with his European friends). He never went back to Germany from his world tour due to the Nazis destroying his institute, so he and Li Shiu Tong went to Paris where Karl Giese joined them. They ended up as a throuple lol.

9: Favourite Historical Film

Hmm, probably either 1917 for how it uses its cinematography to convey the misery of the trenches or Portrait of a Lady on Fire for being an excellent lesbian romance with characters who think and act in a way that seems plausible to the setting. Most of my favourite historical fiction is in the form of tv shows, though.

13: Something random about some random historical person in a random era

Heh, I kind of already did that with Hirschfeld! To be honest, my interest in history is much more based on broad trends and ideas or groups of people rather than individuals, so idk...

Friedrich Engels pretended to his rich bourgeois family that he'd left his radical politics behind to get a job in the family business so he could fund Marx's writing. When Engels wanted to publish an article, he had it published in Marx's name so his family wouldn't know and this is why there are some texts where it's not 100% clear who of them wrote it.

Favourite Character

So difficult to decide! I think it has to be Anthy though. I love her, I love how vicious she is, I love how petty she is, and I love how funny she can be. I find myself always so excited by imagining the future, what Anthy's personality develops into when she leaves the garden.

Least Favourite Character

I mean. The correct answer is Akio, but actually, I think Ruka. Ruka is all of Akio's manipulation and lies, but he's stupid enough to actually lie to himself that the girl he tried to break for two episodes actually could fall in love with him. At least Akio never deludes himself into that.

5 Favourite Ships

Utena/Anthy - Duh. No notes, 10/10, liberatory lesbian love

Juri/Wakaba - I really like the idea of Juri finding real kindness and joy in Wakaba, and Wakaba finding somebody who thinks of her as her most special thing.

Juri/Anthy - Not as one of those ships that's cute and good, but one of those ships where they would be a destructively horrible trainwreck, but I find myself fascinated by it. My characterization of Juri is never good enough to do this, so the past three Yuletides, I've been trying to get my gifter to write me the year that Akio decided Juri would be the one who keeps Anthy as a Rose Bride? I think that would have been an unmitigated, fascinating disaster.

Saionji/Touga - Honestly, this one goes either way, in that I like the idea of them maybe leaving Ohtori themselves at one point, and learning how to have a non-toxic relationships to each other? But also, I LOVE the idea of them just stuck in Akio's nightmare play, getting worse and worse and being more and more horrible to each other.

Nanami/Freedom, get her out of there. Be free.

(bonus) Nanami/Kozue - Two things make me consider this intriguing pairing. One, the contrasted imagery they both have, where Kozue is the free bird, the wild animal snarling her way out of the cage, as Nanami as the cow, the domesticated. What does it mean for Nanami to encounter Kozue's philosophy? But also Nanami who drowns the kitten that draws Touga's attention, and Kozue as the one who saves the baby bird, even at her own expense. Something something, compassion, adoration, self-preservation. Fun contrasts! I feel like they would hate each other at first, but find something genuinely transformative in the other. Also they both love Miki.

Character I find most attractive

Juri. The long hair, the fencing, the way she can go both high-femme and pretty butch? Queen.

Character I would marry

Wakaba. I feel like she'd genuinely try to take care of me, and also I would fucking adore her. She's so cute. She's the sort of person you could hang out with for a really long time, and I value that in a person.

Character I Would Be Best Friends With

Tragically, probably Miki. Very similar interests, and as much as I would shake my head at the way he places the girls he likes on pedestals and then demonizes them if they ever tumble off that pedestal, he would also shake his head at my tendency to avoid all my problems like the plague.

(Canon OTP is obviously Utena/Anthy, and non canon is Nanami/Kozue.)

Pairing I Am Not a Fan Of

Obviously, all of the incest ones, but honestly, I'm pretty meh on Shiori/Juri. A fascinating dynamic when done correctly, but when people write stuff about them in the future where everything's fine and they don't have tension between them...IDK. I think it's important to me that even without the homophobic pressure of Ohtori trapping them both, that Juri has created this false image of Shiori in the same way that Miki does for Kozue, and that Juri doesn't really know Shiori very well, in the end, because of her inability to ever really recognize Shiori's jagged edges. I think that would haunt their relationships, even if they tried to be together, how much Juri doesn't actually see or understand Shiori's inner personality.

Character I feel the Writers Screwed Up

Mikage! While I LOVE the aesthetic and thematic focuses of the Black Rose Arc, I think they don't quite knock it out of the park with Mikage. I wish Mikage was a more interesting mirror to Utena, but his devotion to Mamiya just doesn't feel like it's in a strong conversation with Utena's relationship to Anthy, which I think was a missed opportunity! I would have loved to see more about Mikage's obliviousness, where he knows something is wrong but shrugs it off for one more day. Or I feel like pushing further into the idea of Mikage being a prodigy who is out of his depth as a parallel to Utena which doesn't get explored very much. Idk...after such an incredible slate of character episodes, I remember being pretty disappointed at the climax of Black Rose Arc!

Favourite Friendship

Miki&Nanami! I think they keep each other mostly in check! Miki can sometimes shame Nanami into not showing off her mean girl instincts, and Nanami's a lot more savvy and cunning than Miki is, which helps keep him away from self-loathing spirals, or being taken advantage of. They're fun together!

akdadhjgsjgd hard to say all my shit is angsty, I guess Pretend?? kind of, it's less of a downer than the other ones. The final part of Come a little closer will have a happy ending though I promise! (already finished writing the end, I just need to write the beginning lol)

So many ugh I cant even choose, it's more rare for me to actually finish something than the opposite, that's why I'll never post anything unless the whole thing is finished (only exception is my current series, but that's because I felt like each fic making up the series were self-contained enough that they didn't need to follow up immediatly to work? if that makes sense - plus the first one was a one shot and only thought of how to follow it up after posting it)

I also struggle with any longer story arc... there's a reason all my stuff is so short lol

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

If it's in french it would be pretty fun since it's my ✨first language✨ hehe. For other languages I'd see if one of my friends speak it but otherwise idk if I'd include it bc I don't want to butcher another language, I've seen too many english authors put french through the ringer it's painful 😭

I often see that people don't want to include Joey in the process of Bendy's creation which makes me a little sad because i love Joey's character.

Bendy usually portayed as Henry's son from the point of being a drawing and to the point of the ink demon himself

Judging by logic,it would be impossible for Joey to lie about being involved (Tiol was released physically and Abby was around)

Personally i think that it's so important for Joey's character. The way he calls Bendy his "firstborn" in Tiol,the way Nathan said that Bendy was Joey's child and him having drawing in his apartment of two other toons holding Bendy's hands.

Maybe i should really stop talking about Joey in this fandom bc it always ends with "Joey has nothing to do with Bendy/ There's no importance of his involvement to the plot"

Anyway, I disagree that it would be impossible for Joey to lie about this, given other things we are PRETTY CONCLUSIVELY SURE that he’s lying about in the same book (Sammy’s hiring being an entire year off? As though nobody at JDS is going to remember that Sammy did music for cartoons before October of 1931?? Or, even worse, Joey giving himself two entirely different birthdays in the same book????????) -- I don’t think Joey’s lies are like, logically sound or carefully calculated. I think he just says things that create the story he wants to create in that moment and expects the sheer force of his personality to carry the story, so that people believe him even when the facts don’t quite line up (and I think writing things down created a bit of a handicap for him, since he is not actually good at keeping his story straight, just good at making people accept the story he’s telling in this moment). Joey doesn’t hesitate to just make things up.

HOWEVER THAT SAID.

I’ve talked about this before, but I think the thing with Joey’s telling of the creation of Bendy in The Illusion of Living is that if Joey wanted to invent a story… this just doesn’t seem like the story he would invent. He’s so off-balance and unsure in all his interactions with Henry, while Abby and Henry are much more confident and orchestrating this whole thing. Henry’s the one who gets the design Joey can’t. Abby’s the one who sees Henry’s potential when Joey can’t. If Joey wanted to lie about Bendy’s creation….. I just don’t believe that this is the lie that the terminally insecure Joey Drew would tell, which makes me more inclined to believe that there’s truth there. Why wouldn’t he just say he came up with it, that he doodled Bendy on a napkin one day like he did with Bendyland, that he passed his doodles to Henry and Henry was inspired and just touched them up a little? It’s not like Henry’s around to challenge that narrative.

Thread once suggested the idea, and I really like it a lot, that this one moment, a moment with his two best friends sitting on the floor with him and brainstorming the character who would become his absolute favourite together, was actually too special and emotionally meaningful to Joey for him to change it. He claims full credit afterwards, to a hilarious degree, but it’s still the one thing he couldn’t bear to unwrite – him and Henry making Bendy together. So… it's possible he could be lying. But in this instance, I’m inclined to think Joey’s mostly telling the truth.

Favorite ship? From any kind of media. And why?

Hard question because there are so many fantastic ships across so many fandoms. How about I give three?

Kris/Susie/Noelle - my favourite ship to write because they just have such an amazing character dynamic. Kris is a brat who is a treat to write, Susie is protective, and Noelle is the straight edge monster who has to keep them together. Add onto that a lot of collective trauma, that is fun to write about, and it's just a perfect little polyship.

Hunter/Luz - i actually prefer Hunter/Luz/Willow but i didn't want it to be all polyships. idk the two of them have great chemistry and are always looking out for each other, especially during and after the events of season 2. They care about each other immensely and they just have great T4T potential. Also who doesn't love tomboys :P

Clark/Jimmy/Lois - Okay i lied, it's going to be 66% polyships. my OG DC polyship that only took off further after My Adventures with Superman came out. Just Lois and the two dorks she has to wrangle. It's a lot like Kris/Susie/Noelle where there is the straight edge character, the protective one, and the goofy outgoing one but also feels older and more mature. Though that being said Clark/Wayne is also really good. So is... Dick/Todd... fuck DC has a lot of amazing ships.

3rd year of my WIP fandorm Qilin, was the former dorm head until Yanque (2nd year, current dorm head) fought him for the position and won. He’s adopted and raised in a strict family so he’s actually pretty hard-working, he’s just also an arrogant lil shit (lol). I like to think of him as a bit of an honest guy

2nd year in Monarchia WNA (Az’s fanschool). I ended up developing her quite a bit in terms of trivia because it was really fun to do a “wild child” character. I also did a Black Clover AU for her because of it (the “wild child” aspect) since hierarchy and social class is a major theme in Black Clover, I thought it would be interesting to see how someone who’s generally rather removed from such social classes (due to being a bit of a societal outcast) would function.

1st year WIP in Kriegskald and based off of Icarus! She’s a child genius who got into WNA early (13) and is basically a lil shit www a very typical ore-sama type character who gets super defensive when criticised but if you praise her it’ll go straight to her head (lol). She just does whatever she wants so she’s always getting in trouble

Vice dorm head of Lyrania (my fanschool WOA) and based off of the violin princess from Music Land. He’s canonically shipped with Lula (dorm head and based off of the alto saxophone prince) and is gnc. He’s generally pretty reserved but also a bit of a violin/strings instrument freak (specifically the actual strings. He likes pressing on those). I think I named him after the Clair de Lune?

2nd year based off of Narcissus, originally for Key’s fanschool PSU but like idk what to do with him lol, he’s neighbours with Lauren (WNA girl based off of Echo) and was her first crush but didn’t work out. Since most of his parasocial fans are girls his age, he’s not very good with women. His favourite food is also not disclosed for related reasons. He’s an awkward kid who loves himself much more than others, but you just need a lot of patience and maybe a bit of masochism to get him to open up www

1st year for Lizz’s fanschool DIE and based off of the Grizzly Gulch in HK Disneyland. He’s a very happy-go-lucky (emphasis on lucky) kid and honestly I almost had Komaeda in mind while I was making him because his talent is luck (except he doesn’t have the luck cycle that Komaeda does, he’s more like Naegi, though I also based him off of Uno from Nanbaka and unintentionally Orias from Iruma). Another problematic kid that does whatever tf he wants, but he looks up to the dorm head :3c

Claude Avenant

Music teacher and residential manipulative hag of NRC based off of Maestro Forte. Formerly a bigshot in classical music but retired and currently teaching as a bit of a hobby. I think I gave him a cane because Maestro Forte as an organ is bolted to the wall, so a human twisted from him would probably have mobility issues? It probably would have made more sense to make him paralysed to some extent but Maestro Forte is basically part of the room he was in because of all the stuff that’s connected so like???? The only thing that moves is his face and keys???? I don’t know man

Usually yes, though I am very very bad with responding (in general, not just ao3 this is a all messages kinda problem) and sometimes im off of ao3 for a solid 3 months before i check my inbox again. i am so sorry for all that, i do read all the comments when i get email notifs for them, i just often dont have the spoons to reply then and there.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Probably On Lies And Spies since it's a canon compliant peter fic, tho i think my prongsfoot fic might also be up there for competiton... (if we go off of ao3 i am currently writing a basically everyone dies fic and have written an angsty fred&george os on my first fic account)

Do you get hate on fics? mm yeah.. amtc specifically... idk what it is with that fic but ive had all kinds of things said there... people who hated the ending, people who thought no one should ever forgive james, people who said no one should ever forgive sirius, people being just in general mean (and not even in english??).. especially the comments in the bookmarks suck, ive had several people rate that fic out of 10, have had people write an entire list of what i should have done different etc etc... it sucks cause i still like that fic a lot, the first long fic ive ever finished, but its reached a point where im scared when people tell me theyre going to start reading it :(

11.  Books and/or authors who influenced you the most

The book series Horrible Histories was my life for years. I read them back to back, working through my “blood curdling box-set” until I just started rereading them over and over. In retrospect, Terry Deary’s sort of sarcastic, referential style definitely bled into some of my work, especially my original stuff. I just feel like he has a lot of character and voice in his writing and I always loved that.

12.  Describe your perfect writing space

I run warm, so I prefer a cool writing space. I write with music and/or white noise, typically. Though I can write pretty much anywhere, anytime, so my ideal place would just be sitting comfortably, I think.

Favourite from my work? Idk. Here’s one I contemplated for too long, from the film industry au, of course :3

George reached a hand up and fisted it in Joe’s shirt. It was one of his nicer ones, collared. Joe had ironed it before they left his apartment, and there George was, creasing the damn thing as he pulled Joe down on top of him.

YOU WERE THE ONE WHO POINTED OUT THAT GEORGE WAS THE ONE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE LITTLE THINGS JOE DID LIKE IRONING HIS NICE SHIRT, WHICH MADE ME REALISE THAT JOE WAS ALSO ACTIVELY PUTTING IN THE EFFORT TO DRESS UP FOR THEIR LITTLE DINNER DATE. IT’S THE MUTUAL AFFECTION. this was all completely intentional and I absolutely did not only think of these implications after writing this (lies I had no clue whatsoever. I was just talking about Joe’s shirt)

Long rambling under the cut

In this world, it's a post massive colonial era plus supernatural stuff but the supernatural are banned from being spoken about because the Christian said that's not what Jesus said in the bible (they fuckin lied). One of the supernaturals are crafters, they are normal human that has honed the skill of their ancestors that it became an ability unique to them (its teacheable but we'll get to that later).

So Sam Chevannes is one of the Crafters, his are Nullifier, which means he can null other people's craft. The problem is, he is suffering from RCD (rebounded craft disorder) means that he can nullify everything including himself, which became a terminal illnes for him, forcing him to be lobg time hospital patient for the majority of his childhood. After getting it under control via a special made ward, he worked at Maciat, and organisation that worked for the supernaturals. He's in the intelligence division, due to his craft and the fact that he's very good at gathering intelligence and being invincible (he swear he didn't do this on purpose).

In my storyline, he's the best friend of the protagonist, Pyrrha Halloran. He's very loyal to her, to the point of willing to betray Maciat for her without hesitation. He's also loves kids very much, and has adopted one (it's more of Yana adopting him actually). He also was tasked with neutralising an agent of the antagonist, Mercury, but he didn't kill mercury because he promised mercury's mom to find him. He's very?? idk what to say but he has this filter on himself that he doesn't deserve anything bc he was a burden due to his illness. He was actually surprised when people love him back lmao. He's also has this very casual attitude about his dying situation so he made jokes about it a lot.

One of my favourite aspect of him that he knows he has limited emotional quote and he strives to accomodate everyone that he met according to their need. Like when mercury was illegally placed at his house he tried his best to navigate through this traumatized, freshly out of a cult assassin's needs. He's also very loving!! His love spilled out of his ribcage and he cannot hold back that he is very much love his beloveds and cannot stop showing it. Like that one moment when pyrrha said that he deserved better friends than her he refuted and said that he said that being her friend is one of the best thing ever happened to him and he hoped that he died as her friend. He also has somewhat straight to the point attitude that can either came off the most amazing roast ever heard or the cringiest thing mankind can say. Also i like that he's very on board with beating up nazis and ableist just bc he can and his coworkers have to stop him physically, even if they're the one being insulated.

His fatal flaw is that he is very loyal. He will jump into the abyss to save people he loved, and he had done so. While Pyrrha sacrifice herself for the lesser evil, sam sacrifice himself for the better future of his beloveds. He will face the horror again and again for them. This frustrated Pyrrha bc unlike pyrrha, sam can permanently die. And he's the one getting mad that pyrrha is hurt even though it will heal quickly (the hypocrisy of these two 🙄).

If he has a character arc, it would be about how he has to face that he is loved, a burden that they willingly carry because it's him!! Who wouldn't carry the burden of people they love!!! Just like how he loves them, they also love him back!!!! Get loved idiot

Random fact about sam: whe he was five, he once was convinced that he was a cat and thus began to emulate cats behaviour like meowing, scratching, hissing, pawing stuff, eating and drinking like cats. His uncle doesn't know what to do. It lasted until he found out that cats cant eat chocolate then said to his uncle that he is birn a human again and never spoke of it again. He still does it sometimes, hissing and meowing.

Question for all the mods (and sorry if this has been already answered) but who are y'all fav lis Outta the 4 & who would y'all be with IRL (anyone from the it lives universe)

Lindsay (mod win): this may come as a shock to you, but my favorite ILW LI is Lincoln. I love the romantic and sexual tension of a good slow burn, and I love the whole trope of being the one to get past the LI’s protective layers. If I could choose anyone for myself out of the whole It Lives universe though... idk actually. All I know is love Lincoln & eat hot chip.

Maggie: also unsurprisingly, my favorite LI of the four is Abel. If I could choose anyone to be with irl tho? It would probably be a toss up between Connor and Abel. Hot, loyal, funny, and good boyfriend material. They tick all my boxes.

M: you know, I don't really have a favourite LI for myself, per se. Sometimes I see characters as people I like or dislike, and sometimes I see them as plot devices, which is definitely the case here. Not that that's a bad thing—a character, in its barest form, is a plot device—but I don't really think so much about who I'd want to hang out with/date as much as I think about what they contribute to the narrative, how they'll influence the protagonist's arc, etc. That being said, my favourite is Matthias. (Go ahead, guess why ;)) But also I would absolutely date my little rat gremlin Noah.

Aku: Jocelyn. I just love big strong women who would kill for me 🥺💜 Also, I don't actually see myself romantically with anyone from the ILA universe, but if speaking platonically, then I would choose Imogen. She's such a sweet and caring girl I'd love to be with her 🥰

Shionch: I love Lincoln, he's my main LI and seeing him smile melts my heart, although irl I'd probably go after Amalia because our values align and I'm a sucker for beautiful women.

Hashie: I have a thing for men with facial hair, so Lincoln (and his dad) would be my main LI in ILW. His personality is also a bonus point. I’m not sure about irl but if i have to pick one, then it would probably be Linky too. We both share interest in art, and I adore his unconventional ways of showing his love.

Eri: As Amalia's head writer, the favoritism is really strong. Like a mother incapable of seeing her child lesser than or even on the same caliber as another, I'm incapable of making an mc that's not romancing her lol. That said the other writers have created MAGNIFICENT routes for the other lis and I must play them at some point. Irl I'd most likely date Abel, he's exactly my type

Alex: if you’re not aware, i’m the biggest jocelyn simp known to mankind, so i’d have to choose her. being one of her head writers has really made me fall in love with her. hot buff himbo women just do something to me. as for irl, i think i would still say jocelyn. i just have such a strong attachment to her and the way we’ve written her just can’t be matched imo.

SUGAR: this is a hard question. my main Li is Abel as of right now, for pretty much everything abt him, going from his looks to his height, to his intentionality with being a part of his culture, his nerdiness and how he speaks abt thing he cares for; he’s perfect for my mc as well! for ME though, (very hard) i’d say tom is my #1. for many reasons, but the main reason why is bc tom is closer to me in age, thus allowing for our relationship defining interests to be closer aligned <3
